|James Walter Cousins was born to the late Victor & Fannie Cousins on January 8, 1933 in Henrico County, Virginia. On June 20, 2013, he was called Home to be with our Father.
James worked for the City of Richmond for nearly 30 years in landscaping providing immaculate service in keeping the school system orderly and regularly maintained. Some of his favorite pastimes were being a passionate Atlanta Braves fan, checker player, and prideful fisherman. Fishing was James’ biggest passion, sharing memorable moments with family members such as his brothers, nieces, nephews, and friends.
James was a man of very few words, but it was evident that he knew the Lord. He faithfully tuned in to gospel radio every Sunday. Although he was a quiet man he valued and love his family. He enjoyed road trips with his brother and those moments will always be treasured.
If ever there were a visitor, you can best believe James already knew about it before they entered the house. He kept a watchful eye over his home by looking out of his bedroom window watching the sunrise and sunset.
His nieces Dianne and Gloria has always held a special place in his heart. They always ensured he had a meal prepared “every day”. His Great-Great Niece “Sadaya Preston” always brightened up James’ day every time she entered the room. She was also that special someone in James’ life and her love for him will last forever. He will be missed not only by his family but mostly by his Great nieces, Jhaileena and Davina, in which they all lived together since their early childhood.
He leaves cherished memories to: four brothers, Victor Cousins, John Cousins, Cornelius (Daisy) Cousins of Glen Allen, Va, and Samuel “Sammie” (Maureen) Cousins of Modesto, California; late sister Sadie Preston; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, and other relatives and friends.
