October 13, 1964 – August 8, 2025
Addie Leigh Johnson Long , entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 8, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Maurice Long, Sr., parents, Ernest Wesley and the late Addie Harris Johnson, brother, Ernest Wesley (Joe) Johnson, two sisters, the late Dale Diane Johnson and Judy Mae Scott. Addie was the youngest of six children.
Addie Leigh was born October 13, 1964, in Caroline County, Virginia. She was educated and graduated from the Caroline County Public School System. She was employed at Capital One for over twenty-five years, where she made lasting friends. She confessed Christ at an early age and joined with the First Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, where she served as an usher and on the hospitality ministry. She was active with the youth ministry, especially the Praise Dance Ministry. She served wherever she was needed.
Addie Leigh was united in Holy Matrimony to the Late Maurice Long, Sr. on July 12, 2008, and to this union one daughter was born, the love her life, Terri. She was blessed to have three blended sons as well, Michael, Maurice and Matthew.
Addie Leigh life as well as the lives of her family and friends became enriched by her hobbies which included cooking, reading, watching mystery and ID shows on TV, eating seafood with family. She grew up with cousins who were like sisters to her. She loved to play softball where she played short stop like a pro. She could glove the ball and when she got it, you better not run on her because she would throw you out, and oh yes you better have your glove on to take the throw.
Addie Leigh will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. We the Harris family celebrated our Family Reunion on August 19, 2025, we are so very thankful that God allowed Addie to celebrate with us for the last time. Praise God.
Addie Leigh Johnson Long leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Terri Ashleigh Long, two sisters, Betty (McArthur) Morris and Paulette Johnson, three blended sons, Michael (Reyna), Maurice and Matthew Long, brother-in-law, Donald (Helen) Jordan, sister-in-law, Ruby Johnson, two uncles, one devoted Deacon Curtis Harris, Sr., devoted nieces, Rhonda and Robin Scott and Christina Johnson, a host of nephews, devoted Ronnie Morris and Christopher Stokes, a host of cousins, other relatives and many friends.
