Obituary

Alphonso L. Robinson, affectionately known as "Fonnie," was born on September 6, 1955, in Richmond, VA.to the late Thomas and Margeory Robinson. He departed this earthly life in the comfort of his home in Ruther Glen, VA. on October 24, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones.

Alphonso was married to his lovely and devoted wife Gwendolyn Robinson on February 18, 2018. They were blessed to celebrate 6 years of marriage.

Alphonso accepted Christ at an early age where he joined Jerusalem Baptist Church in Doswell, VA. Later, he moved his membership to First Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, where he was a dedicated and faithful member. He was an usher and helped with various organizations within the church.

Alphonso attended Hanover County Public Schools to include Patrick Henry High School. He was employed by Best Products Company for 18 years. He was also employed by Fiber Lam Company for 21 years where he retired in 2018. He continued to work at Kings Dominion part-time for over 20 years until his health began to fail.

Alphonso was a dedicated son, brother, spouse, father, grandfather, cousin and friend. He loved everyone he came in contact with. He loved his trips to South Carolina with his wife Gwen. He loved sitting on the front porch catching the breeze. He loved taking his early morning walks while chatting with the neighbors he came in contact with. "Fonnie" loved football and was an avid Washington Commanders fan. He also loved to watch Western TV shows. His passion for cooking was received from his mother. Above all, he always put Christ first.

Alphonso was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Margeory Robinson; His first wife, Patsy C. Robinson; Sister Sherry Dale Robinson; Brother Kelvin "Buster" Robinson; Father-in-law Stafford "Junebug" Rogers; Sisters-in-law Edith Armstead, Helen Smithers, Eunice Jackson, Doris Spurlock; Brothers in law Herman Lee Carter and James "Jimmy" Carter.

He leaves cherished memories to his devoted wife Gwendolyn Robinson; two daughters Wendy (Ronald) James, Dena (Tyrone) Wheeler and one son Derrick Page; five grandchildren, Demetra, Gwendasia, Alana, Damyra and Derriona; mother-in-law Roberta Rogers; three sisters, Brenda (Ronald) Curtis, Shirley Gale Pleasants and Delores (Lawrence) Bertrand; two brothers Larry (Dorine) Tillman and Franklin (Evelyn) Robinson; one aunt Mary Price; four sisters-in-law, Marilyn Johnson, Linda Merchant, Julia Nance, and Peggy Armstead; six brothers-in-law, James Worley, Lee Rogers, Stevie Rogers, Germont Rogers, Earl Carter and Robert (Christine) Carter. A host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, devoted Wayne "Jack" Fells, Travis Rollins, Ken Dabney, Keith Jackson, Carl Twisdale, Delores Stevens and Erma Baylor.
