Ann Elizabeth
Robinson
January 2, 1917 – April 5, 2018
A nn E lizabeth R obinson was the fourth of five children born to the late Maggie and Contee Robinson. Born and reared in the Ashland/Elmont community, she was educated in the Hanover County school system. During her early adult years, she lived and worked in Washington, D.C. and later returned to her home and family in Virginia.
Throughout her life, A nn was actively involved in church. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Elmont and later joined Brown Grove Baptist Church. Using her beautiful handwriting skills, she served as Secretary of the Brown Grove Sunday School, the Missionary Ministry, and the Hanover County Sunday School Union Number Two. For many years, she served as a Sunday School teacher and was a proud and dedicated member of the Sanctuary Choir.
A nn was a charter member and past Worthy Matron of the Eva M. Jackson Chapter 211 Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a former secretary of the Hanover Branch of the NAACP.
A nn held a variety of jobs during her working years and reluctantly retired in 2006 at the age of 89. She was a very unselfish person who always willingly shared her time, skills and resources with her family, friends, associates and even strangers. Affectionately called "Nonnie" by many, Ann or Elizabeth by others, she lived her life as one with honesty and integrity while refusing to compromise on her commitment to serve the Lord by carrying the Christian banner.
A nn leaves to cherish her memories her son, Anthony Robinson and spouse, Rutha Robinson; two grandchildren, Marcus Robinson and Michael Robinson (Janyn); three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; many cousins, and a host of "adopted" relatives.
Proverbs 31:31b-32 reads, "But a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gates."
As a reward to her dedication to Him, God blessed A nn with longevity and favor in all aspects of her life.
