Anna McLean (Mac) Winston Shelton was born to the late James William and Carrie Robinson Winston on April 21, 1932, in Ashland, Virginia. She was born the twin to Ellen Geraldine (Gerri) Winston Wells now deceased and was the last survivor of nine siblings. Mac departed this earthly life for eternal rest and peace on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at her residence on B street. She attended school at Hanover County Training Center in Ashland (pre-cursor to John M. Gandy High School). She was a veteran employee of Randolph Macon College in the dining room greeting and serving generations of students, faculty and staff. Mac was later employed at the Ashland Shirt Factory and McDonalds where she served over ten years as a dedicated kitchen supervisor prior to retirement. Mac remained active as a registered voter and community activist. She stayed informed on the political climate and made it a point to vote in the last presidential election.

At an early age she was converted and baptized at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Beaverdam, Virginia. She later joined Shiloh Baptist Church by Christian experience where she served faithfully. Mac worked diligently in the church serving as a member of the Willing Workers until her health began to fail.

Mac was married to the late Earl Scott Shelton, Sr.; they had five wonderful children. Preceding her in death, are sons Earl Scott Shelton, Jr. and Marlon Oneil Shelton.

Left to cherish her memory are three devoted daughters Juanita S. Winston of Glen Allen, VA, Caron S. Winston of Richmond, VA, and Christy S. Bryant of Charlotte, NC and adopted daughter, Marylinn Minor of Montpelier, VA; eight granddaughters, DeShawn, LaShawn, Kelly, Tracy, Erin, Melody, TaShara, and Roslyn; four grandsons, Carlos, Derrick, Earl III, and Carl (CJ); five devoted friends, Gloria White, Marion Hunter (niece), Scott Jackson, Elizabeth ‘Whitey’ Chancellor, Carolyn Hemphill and a host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends, devoted caregiver, Jewel Roe, and Hospice nurses, Claire Barber and Erika Groves.
