Her Life Story

Birth and Family

Audrey L. Brown, affectionately known as “Baby Sis,” was born on September 25, 1933, in Hanover, Virginia, to Reverend Nathaniel H. Winston and Laura H. Winston, both of whom preceded her in death.

At home, surrounded by her loving family, Audrey peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home with the Lord on June 19, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Phillip T. Brown; and her sons, Anthony Brown and Kim Brown.

Education

Audrey received her education at John M. Gandy School in Ashland, Virginia, where she earned her high school diploma.

Salvation and Church Life

Audrey accepted Christ at an early age and faithfully served the Lord throughout her life. She was an active member of Providence Baptist Church in Ashland, Virginia, where she played the piano and sang in several choirs. She especially loved singing and served as leader of the youth choir for many years.

One of her favorite scriptures was Jeremiah 1:5.

Marriage

On January 21, 1961, Audrey married the love of her life, Phillip T. Brown, and together they built a loving family.

Employment

Audrey worked for many years in food service at Randolph-Macon College, where she later retired. After retirement, she continued working as a receptionist at Henry W. Dabney Funeral Home.

Leisure Interests

Audrey enjoyed planting flowers, especially perennials that returned each year so she would not have to replant them—something she often joked about. She also loved baking, sewing, and reading.

One of her all-time favorite movies was Rambo, which she enjoyed because of its powerful theme of survival and perseverance.

Cherished Memories

Audrey leaves to cherish her memory her son, Kyle Brown; daughter, Reverend Rosalind B. Pleasant (Linwood); daughter-in-law, Kathy Brown; grandson, Dre Gilliens; granddaughters, Jessica Dyer, Airyal Seward (Brandon), Kamilah Johns, and Amber Evans; great-grandchildren, Bria Booker, Kalilah Evans, Kaishon Robinson, Adaliyah Evans, Noah Seward, and Eliana Seward; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
