MICKENS, Bradley M., of Caroline, entered eternal rest on Thursday, February 16, 2017. Bradley was born in Caroline County, Virginia, to Charlie and Mildred Mickens on May 20, 1947. He is preceded in death by parents, Charlie and Mildred Mickens; and nephew, Craig Williams. He is survived by his devoted wife, Brenda Wilson Mickens; loving daughter, Nakita Lee (Orlando); granddaughter and apple of his eye, Lyric Mickens; step-sons, Ernest and Julius Goodwyn; faithful brothers, Roger Mickens (Frances) and Charlie Mickens (Judy); dedicated sister, Veronica Williams; niece, Penelope Southerland (Jefferey); nephew, Rico Mickens (Randreia); great-nieces, great nephews, great grand-niece, great grand-nephews, and a host of cousins and close friends.
He will be greatly remembered for his adventuresome spirit and zest for life. Bradley's sense of humor and willingness to serve others will surely be missed. He was a longtime member of Jericho Baptist Church in Ruther Glen where he served as Trustee, participated in Music Ministry and led the Transportation Ministry. Bradley's desire to serve extended into the community as he volunteered for various causes that prompted him to become an Organ and Tissue Donor. He retired after more than 35 years at Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice.
