Obituary

Cassell Storrs was born on September 10, 1933, in Hanover, VA. He attended Hanover Training School until the 8th grade. While there, he met the woman who would become his wife, Laura Holman. As young adults, they would come together again, this time as husband and wife. On May 24, 1952, Cassell and Laura were married. In addition, they had a baby girl, Sherl, on April 18th of the same year. They would go on to have a 71-year marriage filled with love and wonderful memories.

Cassell learned the value of hard work as he began working at age of 12 to help support his mother. He would go on to attend trade school, learning brick masonry and body and fender work. A few years later, he built his own body shop. Midway Body Shop located in King William, VA which became his second home. He worked there for 31 years before retiring. He became known for the ability to transform unrecognizable vehicles into something that you would find on the showroom floor. He built his home from the ground up, creating a homestead for future generations to come. He would often remind his family that he worked hard to build something for them that they could always come back to.

Cassell became a member of First Union Baptist Church, Mechanicsville, VA at a young age. as an adult, Cassell began attending Providence Baptist Church with his wife. In 1991, he officially became a member. Cassell served on the Trustee Board for many years, contributing to the building of the new church and marquee. He was also a member of the Men's Choir, Senior Chior, Mass Choir, and Gospel Choir.

Cassell leaves behind his loving wife Laura (Holman)Storrs, his daughter Sherl (Storrs) Jeffries; granddaughters Ikisha Jones (Timothy), Monika Manns (Michael); three great grandsons James, Michael, and Jeremiah as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.
