Obituary

Cedric Wayne Carter departed this life on August 24, 2021. He was born on August 28, 1976.

Cedric accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Providence Baptist Church in Ashland, Virginia.

He attended Hanover County Public Schools and was a graduate of Patrick Henry High School, Class of 1996. He was a member of the football team when they won the State Championship.

Cedric was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed getting together with family and friends to watch games.

Cedric was a construction worker and landscaper and most recently employed by C.T. Purcell.

He was a wonderful son, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend who loved and protected his family. He had a "big heart" and loved to make people laugh.  His favorite saying was "what's up dweebs"!

Cedric leaves to cherish his memories four children, Briana Robinson (Josh), Keiana Carter, Cedric Carter Jr., all of Tennessee and Anthony Crutchfield of Mechanicsville; two grandsons, Ashton Robinson and Maddox Carter, of Tennessee;  his devoted parents, William (Billy) and Carolyn Johnson; grandmother, Georgia Johnson; one sister, Latoya Gregory (Avery);

five aunts, Linda Jackson, Joyce Ball (James), Sharon Boone (Lewis), Cheryl Grooms and Toney Rosado; 13 uncles, Herman Carter (Maria), Clarence B. Shelton Jr. (Connie), Peter Shelton (Trish) of Florida, Rodney Carter (Delinda), Gordon Shelton (Karen), Kenneth (Dee) Shelton, Felix Shelton, Sandy Carter (Rocky), Joseph Shelton, Willie Shelton (Taresha), Rodney Johnson (Joy), Corey Shelton (Talisha), and Shannon Shelton; four nieces, Jasmine Jordan (Cameron), Ciara, Diamen, and Asia Gregory; one great niece, Alana Jordan; god daughter, Kenya Grooms; two devoted friends, Ronnelle Jackson and Erik Grooms; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
