Charles Henry
Chandler
December 11, 1936 – May 21, 2021
Charles Henry Chandler , son of the late James Henry and Nezzie Inez Chandler, was born on December 11, 1936. He departed this life on May 21, 2021 at his home in District Heights, Maryland surrounded by his family. He was 85 years old.
Charles received his formal education in the Virginia Public School system where he graduated from Pointer in 1954. He enlisted in the Navy in May 1955. During his enlistment Charles served proudly and was honorably discharged on May 6, 1959. Upon discharge from active duty Charles relocated to Silver Spring, Maryland where he began his career working for Brinks Security Services. For more than 3 decades he transported money and classified documents on his daily routes in Virginia and Washington, DC. CC was a walking GPS for he could give you directions anywhere.
On March 10, 1956 he was joined in Holy Matrimony to Jean Evelyn Chandler who was the love of his life for sixty-four years. To this union were two children Reginald and Cynthia.
Charles enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He began attending his grandson's football games because he was an avid lover of the game himself. Retirement also brought more time for him to devote to the Lord. His dedication and devotion for the Lord took him to Bright Light Baptist Church in Takoma Park, Maryland. He was an active member on the Trustee Board for many years.
Charles had a love for Cadillacs, in his lifetime he owned four of them: three Deville's Champagne, Black and Blue, and his last a Pearl White CTS. He was an O.G. that was always dressed in the finest suits. He was very charismatic, loved dancing, watching westerns and enjoyed the company of all that he met. He was a die hard Redskins (Washington Football Team) fan and enjoyed watching the games on Sunday and Monday nights.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Chandler; sons Eddie Robinson, Jr.; Reginald Chandler; four sisters, Sarah Stevens, Margaret Hall, Lucy Stevens and Barbara Ann Marrow.
