REFLECTING ON THE LIFE OF

CHESTER KENNY WILLIAMS

Chester Kenny Williams was born on May 8, 1956 to Richard Henry Williams, Sr. and Edith Dorothy Williams in Dawn, VA. They both preceded him in death. Chester transitioned to his heavenly home on Friday, September 18, 2020 in Silver Spring, MD.  He accepted Christ at an early age at First Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Dawn, VA.

Chester was in the first class that integrated Bowling Green Sr. High School, Bowling Green, VA  where he graduated in 1974.  Afterwards, he would matriculate at the University of Maryland, College Park, where he earned a B.S. Degree in Biology.

During his time at UM, Chester would serve as a Resident Assistant in Hagerstown Dormitory.  In 1975, Chester, decided to follow the trail blazed by his sibling, Curtis Williams, by pledging the Chi Delta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.  Chester was initiated as a member of "8 the Hard  Way" on 04/19/1975.

Chester was a lifelong worker for Omega Psi Phi.  As a member of Chi Delta, he held several offices including that of Vice President and President, as well as chairing several committees and serving as a delegate at District and National meetings. As a graduate, he would continue his services as a member of Mu Nu Chapter in Montgomery County and Tau Pi Chapter in Howard County, MD where he held numerous offices including that of Vice President and President as well as chairing several committees.  Affectionately known as "Midnight Cowboy", he received the fraternity's highest award of Omega Man of the Year 2003, amongst several other awards for his outstanding service.  He was currently serving as one of the lead mentors within Tau Pi's award winning Mentoring Program and on their Scholarship Endowment Fund Steering Committee.

Chester was employed at MCV Hospital, Richmond, VA and would eventually become employed as a Biochemist with the National Institutes of Health(NIH) in Bethesda, MD performing clinical and biological testing.  Ironically, Chester would be with N.I.H. throughout his 38 year career until his untimely passing.  Recently, he had planned to submit his paperwork to retire at the end of December 2020.

Early on, Chester developed a passion for the game of Chess and enjoyed playing as much as teaching it, especially to youth.  He was also an avid golfer.  Chester was a music aficionado.  He enjoyed life!  Whenever he entered a room, his infectious smile could not be missed.  If you knew Chester, you would have heard one of his favorite expressions: "Uhh Duh", "Who Dat",  "You Think!" or "See What Had Happened Was".

Chester leaves to cherish his memories: son, Chester, Jr.; daughter, Marquita; granddaughter, Desiree; grandson, Josiah of Ft. Washington, MD; Brothers, Arthur Johnson(Mary) of Seguin, TX; Frankie Fells(Elizabeth) of Ruther Glen, VA; Richard Williams, Jr.(Carrie) of Dawn, VA; Luther Williams of Mechanicsville, VA; Dr. Curtis Williams of Lanham, MD; Sisters, Josephine Miles(Clement) of San Jose, CA; Edith "Darlene" Thornton(Michael) of Riverview, FL; Aunt, Marie Fells of Chesterfield, VA; nieces, nephews; a close friend, Veronica Marco and a host of relatives and friends.

If achieving success was measured in living well, laughing often and loving fiercely, then Chester would have been known as being the Richest Man Alive!
