Clarence Edgar
Oliver
August 3, 1968 – July 25, 2022
On August 3, 1968, our beloved son, brother, father, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, friend, barber, Clarence Edgar Oliver, was born to his parents, Clarence and Ora Lewis Oliver. He left a legacy of his love of God, family and laughter when God called him to his eternal rest on the morning of July 25, 2022.
Edgar as he is known by his family, was a graduate of Hermitage High School. He loved drafting and drawing blueprints. He began his college career at Hampton University studying architecture and was able to boast several pieces of art shown in the Hampton Art Museum. Edgar transferred to Virginia State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture.
Edgar accepted Christ at a very young age, joining Mount Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Wendell Johnson, where he worshipped with family for years. Although he loved drawing and drafting, barbering was his passion. He became affectionately known as Ollie when he began working with his father at Supreme Hairstyling Lounge. He honed his craft and became a master barber working alongside his dad. He also put his drawing and drafting skills to use by designing the Supreme logo and by designing the layout of the boutiques on Grace Street. At "Supreme" Ollie could be himself. He was so comical and outspoken. He kept you laughing while providing a much-needed service, friendship and advice, the only way a master barber could. From your baby's first haircut to 30 years of consistent service and every milestone in between, Ollie's chair was the place to be. He made the shop feel like a family.
Ollie loved football (go Cowboys!!!), fishing and travel. He was loving and devoted father. He enjoyed spending time with Lauren, Evan, Victor, and LaGora, other family members and friends. Ollie also loved cooking, grilling/smoking foods and coordinating flavorful meals. He had an entrepreneurial spirit and started "Two Brothers Smoking", with his brother Victor in 2020.
Clarence Edgar Oliver was preceded in death by his oldest son, Alexander Amir Oliver. He leaves to cherish is memory two children Lauren Alexis Oliver and Evan Alexander Oliver; his dedicated parents Clarence and Ora Lewis Oliver; his siblings Victor (Sheryl) Lewis Oliver, LaGora (Kevin) Oliver Brooks; nephew Brandon Briggs; nieces Ashanti Anderson-Oliver, Kyler Victoria Oliver, Korinne Amir Brooks, Katelyn Alyse Brooks; several loving aunts and uncles, a host of cousins, childhood friends and a devoted friend.
