Clarice Elizabeth
Cash Woods
April 9, 1932 – November 13, 2020
Clarice Elizabeth Cash Woods was the eighth child born to the late James D. and Janett Cash in Hanover County, Ashland, Virginia. After graduating from the then John M. Gandy High School in Ashland, she moved to Philadelphia, PA, where she became a practical nurse. Clarice later relocated to Washington, DC where she worked until she entered the Helene Fuld School of Nursing at Provident Hospital in Baltimore, MD. She graduated and passed the board, and turned out to be an amazing registered nurse.
After 37 years of nursing, she retired from the District of Columbia Government Public Health Department. Clarice received many awards and recognitions during her career; amongst them, she received a citation from the United States Postal Service for delivering an infant in a Southeast DC Post Office.
Clarice gave her life to the lord as a child and was an active member of many churches:
Clarice sang the gospel and lifted her voice to the Lord. Her singing ministry started as a member of the singing group, "The Jordanetts". Then, she continued her singing ministry as a soloist with many concerts to inspire, encourage, and empower her many listeners. She also sang in various choirs of the churches she joined.
Clarice's faith in God was always prevalent in her life and her involvement in the church was always consistent; so it was no surprise that she married a minister, the late Rev. Nathaniel Woods. Together they served the Lord and attended many national conventions, conferences, workshops, and seminars. She and her husband traveled together and supported each other in their ministries.
Clarice took many leadership and Christian education classes. Her experiences included being keynote speaker for the Women's and Missionary Day, being a facilitator for numerous workshops and retreats, and serving as Sunday School Superintendent and a Bible Class teacher in the many churches she served.
Clarice's greatest achievement was motherhood because she enjoyed raising her children to know and love the Lord. Clarice is survived by two loving children, Lisa Clarice Johnson (Kevin Johnson) and Mark Nathaniel Woods (Tonya Woods). She was a loving Nana to her seven grandchildren, Mark, Jr., Michael, Veronica, Malachi, Kevin Jr., Kollin, and Matthew.
