December 2, 1956 – April 8, 2023
On Saturday, April 8, 2023 God in His Infinite Wisdom called Cynthia Ann Fields to her heavenly home. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Gussie Bell and Bessie Blandshaw-Jacobs, and two brothers, John and Ezekiel Blandshaw.
Cynthia was born in a farming community in Lee County near Bishopville, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Louie and Curlean Covington-Blandshaw. Cynthia graduated with the class of 1975 from Bishopville High School in Bishopville, SC and later graduated from Kean College in Union, New Jersey with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications.
Cynthia was trained from an early age about the benefits and value of honest work. She carried and practiced this work ethic in everything that she did throughout her life. Cynthia persevered and rose to the level of Manager, at Blue Cross Blue Shield for over 20 years in New Jersey and Virginia.
Cynthia was a Born Again Christian and accepted Christ at an early age while being a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Bishopville SC. She was a willing worker for the Lord and served at her church, Second Mt. Zion Baptist Church in many ministries and auxiliaries such as the usher board, Sunday school teacher, vacation bible school teacher, and Deaconess.
Surviving to cherish all of the good times and her memories include her faithful husband, Martin Fields of Hanover, VA; son, Shermaine Fields of Hanover, VA, daughter, Shana (Dami) Martins of Aldie, VA, and step daughter, Kendra Fields of Ruther Glen; seven granddaughters, Alajah Fields, Aliyah Jefferson-Fields, Kamryn Fields, Alexis Fields-Simmons, Kennedy Fields, Elle Martins, and Lyla Martins; one grandson, Elijah Fields and one great granddaughter, Savannah Fields; two sisters, Janice (William) Guy and Gussie (Clifton) Golden, two brothers in law, Rev. Marvin (Joyce) Fields and Michael Fields (deceased), and a special niece that she loved like a sister, Shirley Blandshaw. Cynthia also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cynthia will always be remembered as a nurturing and loving daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend. We who loved her can only try to imagine life without her. Cynthia was kind, caring, and genuinely loved everyone unconditionally.
