Cynthia Diane
Quash
October 14, 1950 – February 24, 2018
Cynthia Diane Quash, (affectionately known as Diane) entered into eternal rest peacefully on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at her home. She was twelfth of thirteen siblings born in Caroline County, VA to the late Samuel and Deaconess Bessie Stevens Quash on October 14, 1950. She was preceded in death by her three brothers: Robert, Anthony and Charles and two sisters: Sally and Joan "Doris" Quash; three sisters-in-law, Mary "Louise" Quash, Sylvia Jones, Valerie Quash and two brothers-in-law, Rev. Robert Burruss and Roland Jones.
Diane confessed Christ at an early age and attended the Second Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where she faithfully supported until her health prevented her from attending.
She was educated in the public schools of Caroline County graduating Union High School, Class of 1969. She was a faithful employee for over 20 years at Ponderosa Steakhouse in Ashland, VA and was considered a "mother-figure" to many young people employed there. Diane was well-known for her homemade coconut, chocolate, German chocolate and plain cakes. She also enjoyed reading and sports. Her favorite teams were the L.A. Rams and Baltimore Orioles. During games you could often hear her yelling "Aww come on here!" at her television. She was a devoted daughter serving alongside her mother every Christmas in the preparation and serving of dinner to her immediate family and cousins who came by for many years. Diane was a quiet unassuming, no nonsense woman who said what she meant and meant what she said. She loved being around her family and her laugh was infectious and unforgettable. She was a much loved sister, aunt, cousin and friend.
She leaves treasured memories with her five brothers: Henry, Stanley (Connie), Sherman (Gloria), Bryan and Raymond (Ruth); two sisters: Mary Burruss and Alma Jones; sisters-in-law, Rev. Louevenia Quash and Mattie Quash; numerous nieces and nephews including one devoted Robert Burruss, Jr., cousins, and friends. A special thank you to Kindred Hospice and nurses, Elizabeth and Candice for providing outstanding support and care to Diane during her illness and to the family.
