Cynthia Wanda
(Waddy) Green
June 7, 1960 – November 29, 2024
Mrs. Cynthia Wanda Waddy Green was born on June 7th, 1960, in Richmond, Virginia, to the late John Edwards Anderson Sr. and her mother, Nancy Turner. She departed this life on November 29, 2024, at the age of 64.
Cynthia's life was a living testament to the power of love, care, and service. From a young age, she embraced the teachings of Christ, dedicating herself to a life of service to others. She was a proud member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church, where she was actively involved in the Usher Board and the Outreach Ministry, offering a helping hand and a loving heart to all she met.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse, Cynthia devoted over 40 years of her life to caring for the sick and comforting the weary. Her work at MCV and St. Mary's Hospital was more than just a job; it was her ministry. Whether she was tending to patients or offering a word of encouragement to a family member, Cynthia embodied the values of kindness, patience, and selflessness. Her hands healed, but it was her heart that left an everlasting impact on everyone who crossed her path.
Cynthia lived by a simple but profound principle: she believed that by helping others, she was serving God. Her life was marked by an unwavering faith in Christ and a deep commitment to helping those in need. In the same way she cared for patients in her nursing career, she cared for her family and friends, always going above and beyond to make others feel loved, seen, and valued.
After retiring from her 40+ year career in nursing in 2022, Cynthia found new joys in life—cherishing time with her beloved family. Whether it was walking the track with her dear friend Diane, playing bingo with Joyce and Aunt Lavina, or getting her hair and nails done with her mother, Nancy, Cynthia knew how to savor life's simple pleasures. She loved her grandsons, Prince and DJ, deeply, and she found great joy in spending time with her daughter, Ashley. Her husband, James, was her partner and confidant, and together they shared many beautiful moments of love and companionship. Cynthia also cherished the bonds she had with her stepchildren and siblings, always offering her time and love to nurture the next generation. She was preceded in death by her father, John Edwards Anderson Sr.; her son, Jonathan Waddy; stepson, Dante Green; her aunt, Anne Anderson; best friends, Lind Pamier and Joyce Haywood; and a host of beloved ancestors, including her grandparents, Robert and Maple Waddy.
Cynthia's legacy of love and service lives on in her husband, James Green; her parents Linwood and Nancy Turner; daughter, Ashley Waddy; grandsons, Prince Ashton and Dejon; stepdaughters, Dionca (JD), Ky, Diondra, Tray, Kamari, Kai'onna, Kaliyah, and Kingston; brothers, John and Anthony Anderson; and a host of devoted family and friends, including DeeDee, Brenda, Diane, Lorene, Donnette, Angie, and Beez.
