Daisy Elizabeth Cartledge Coles was born in Richmond, Virginia to the late Daisy Jones and John Bell Cartledge, Sr.  Daisy's education began at Randolph Elementary School, followed by Braves Junior High School and Maggie L. Walker High School.  She obtained her higher education from Virginia Union University (B.S. in Science), Indiana University (Master of Science) and Virginia Commonwealth University (Master of School Administration).  Daisy began her career in education at Bainbridge Middle School followed by Mosby Middle School, Assistant Principal at Thomas H. Henderson Middle School and Human Resources Coordinator in the Richmond Public Schools Central Administration Office.

Daisy married Reginald W. Coles, Jr. in 1974 and to that union one son, Reginald W. Coles, III was born.  Daisy was a wonderful wife to her husband and a doting and loving mother to her son.  She was active in the Second Baptist Church Missionary Ministry, National Education Association, and the Virginia Education Association.

Daisy will be missed by her husband, Reginald, Jr., son, Reginald, III, two brothers, John B., Jr. and Edward M. Cartledge; one aunt, Florence Lyndsey; godchildren, Tammie Williams, Linwood and LaMont Turner; four sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
