Daphane L. Johnson departed this life on August 19, 2024. The youngest of six children of the late Adele Mickens Johnson and Raymond T. Johnson, Sr., Daphane was born on January 24, 1964 and raised in Ashland, VA. She attended Hanover County schools, where she developed artistic skills at an early age, winning a number of awards and other accolades. Following her graduation from Patrick Henry High School in 1982, Daphane attended Virginia Commonwealth University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting and Printmaking in 1986. She was a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

Growing up, Daphane enjoyed playing little league softball, and she later played flute in the PHHS marching and concert bands. She became a huge fan of reggae music in college and loved supporting local reggae groups, sometimes providing artwork for their performances. She also was a very good cook and loved to entertain.

In addition to her parents, Daphane was predeceased by her brothers Ronald M. Trent and Raymond T. Johnson, Jr. She is survived by her children, Karl R. Richardson, Jr. and Kelsey R. Richardson and four grandchildren; brother, Thomas C. Trent; sisters, Donna L. Johnson and Delle J. Stallings (Charles); aunt, Sarah M. Anderson (Douglas); nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins and good friends.

The family will announce arrangements for a celebration of Daphane's life in the near future.
