Daphne Childs, age 55 of Caroline, VA, went home to be with Lord on May 5, 2026, at home while on hospice, due to her battle with cancer. In her last days she was surrounded by family and loved ones. She accepted Christ at an early age.

Daphne, known to many as "Daffy" or "Duck", was preceded in death by her mother, Eva L Childs, and her father James Raymond Childs; brothers, Alan "Booley" Childs, Terry Childs, James "IJ" Childs Jr. and Dwayne "Weldon" Childs; sister, Sabrina Childs; Uncles Albert Childs Jr., Tony Childs.

Daphne is survived by her three children, Torri Childs. Derrick James Gahagan Jr. (Dino), and Christopher Childs. Her sisters, Marilyn Massey (John Massey), Tangee Childs, and Sharon James (Terrence James); her niece, Ashley Samuel, the grandchildren to continue her legacy, Riley, Michael and Gabriel Braxton and Naomi Gahagan. Her aunts; Sandra Deyo, Debra Childs, and Bonnie Washington (Mickey Washington), and uncles; Eric Childs, Avery Childs, Elgie Abrams and Robert Abrams, devoted cousin, Holly Samuels and devoted friend Tyrone Burley; and a host of relatives and friends

Daphne found joy in the simple things in life, from enjoying a movie, to just soaking up the sun on the patio. She worked at the Ashland Nursing and Rehab as a Dietary Aide for 12 years, she then dedicated her free time to being "meemaw" to her grandchildren.

Her preference for the color purple was by no mistake; it was indicative of her mix of calmness and passion. She had a rich, royal character and perhaps a bit crazy. The greatest life lesson live life with no regrets ... it is what it is...
