Obituary

Keith Clayton Harris departed this life on January 16,2024 at his residence at the age of 70 Keith was born May 23,1953 to the Late Carrie Harris.
Keith graduated from Bowling Green Senior High School in June of 1971. After graduating he enlisted in the U.S. Army on September 3,1976. He served in Korea from February 1977 to February 1978 oversea assignment. He was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma Field Artillery Surveyor Course for six weeks (1977). Keith accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by the Late Rev. J.L. Hobson and joined the First Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. He sang with the Male Chorus, Member of the Usher's Ministry and served on the Hospitality Ministry. Keith was ordained as a Deacon under the leadership of the Late Rev. James H. Pierce at First Mt. Calvary where he served as Chairman until his health failed.

Keith was employed at Richfood (SUPERVALU) where he retired with 30 years of faithful service. He was also employed with the Hanover Juvenile Correctional Center as a Substitute Teacher and Caroline County School Systems.

June 1984 he was united in holy matrimony to Velma Diane Anderson, they were blessed with 3 sons Sedrick, Bryant and one proceeded him in death the late Clayton O'Neal Harris better known as Laeno. They shared such a happy and joyous life together.
Keith was known by many as a teaser, especially to anyone who liked the Dallas Cowboys because he was a diehard Steeler's fan. Keith was a very good cook, He made delicious potato salad, fried potatoes, greens and homemade corn beef hash. His hobbies included fishing and going to the racetrack.

It was instilled in Keith to be a good husband and an excellent provider and that he was. He provided things he could afford and made every attempt to provide things that he could not. Keith assisted his wife with her daycare.

Keith handled his sickness with grace and only complained when he wanted something he couldn't have. He was a great Mathematician, better than a calculator.

He is survived by his devoting and loving wife of 39 years Velma Diane Anderson Harris, two sons Sedrick and Bryant, three devoted grandchildren Shakira, Stephon and Shanell, a bonus grandchild Diamond White, two great grandchildren J'Sahn and Haiti Coleman. Four sisters LaDell Rollins, Deborah (Marty) Green, Lynda (Darnell) Green, Bonnie Bowler. Two brothers Wayne and Mark (Myra) Harris, Father-in-law and Mother-in-law Deacon Wortham (Thelma) Smithers, three uncles Deacon Curtis Harris Sr, John (Gloria) Anderson, Earnest (Cleo) Anderson, two brothers in law, Vince (Cindy)Smithers, Donald (Bonnie)Smithers, three devoted Aunts, Marion Harris, Garnetta Lucas and Evelyn Anderson. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
