Deacon Leonard Parker, born on October 20, 1952, in Washington, D.C., passed away peacefully at his home in Caroline County, Virginia, on July 19, 2024, after a brief battle with lung cancer.
Leonard was the eldest son, born to the late Cordella Vivian Walker and the late Arthur Theophilus Brown. In August 1958, Leonard accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was cherished in the community and a dedicated member of Jerusalem Baptist Church, Doswell, where he served as a deacon. No one could ever forget his animated performances in many Drama Ministries plays. His kind spirit, unwavering dedication, and compassionate heart touched many lives.
His athletic prowess was evident in the Caroline County School System, where he excelled in basketball, baseball, and football. His passion for sports extended beyond playing, as he coached the Caroline County Parks and Recreation basketball and soccer teams. You could often find Leonard trying his hand at golf, fishing, and watching his favorite teams, the Washington Commanders and Wizards.
Professionally, Leonard had a commendable career as an electrician and CDL driver. His 27 years at Dominion Power, 15 years at Corbin Trucking, and recent employment at HICO Construction were testaments to his work ethic and dedication. His colleagues and friends admired him for his professional achievements, further highlighting his influence.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife of 48 years, Brenda, whom he loved dearly and who was his constant companion in life's journey; three children, Kenya (Christian), Leonard Jr., and Emmanuel, who were the pride and joy of his life; two granddaughters, Parker and Candace, who brought him immense happiness; four sisters, Bernadette Rollins (Delano) of Fredericksburg, VA; Larraine Houchens (David) of Hope Mills, NC; Sharon Walker of King George, VA; and Teresa Walker of Woodford, VA; three brothers, Quinton Parker (Cathy) of Woodford, VA; Elwood Walker, Jr. (Mary) of Roanoke, VA; James Brown of Woodford, VA and a host of relatives and loving friends.
