Obituary

Deaconess Lucy Ellen Dabney Mallory, while surrounded by her children, peacefully entered eternal rest on Thursday, April 29, 2021. Born November 24, 1933 in Louisa County, Virginia. Lucy was the fifth of seven children of the late Ralph E. and Mary R. Dabney. She was predeceased by her brother Charles E. Dabney and sisters Thelma D. Nelson, Arletha D. Davis, and Arlene D. Jackson.

Lucy was educated in the Louisa County Public School System and graduated from the Louisa Training School in 1952. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mount Zion Baptist Church by the late Rev. E.E. Robinson. She was a former member of the Usher Board, Gospel Chorus and later, the Senior Choir. Lucy was a dedicated member who attended faithfully until her health declined on March 30, 2021. She was also a member of the Eva M. Jackson Chapter #211 of the Order of the Eastern Star.

On December 22, 1954, Lucy was joined in holy matrimony to Wilber Wilson Mallory, Sr. From this union five children were born; Janice Anne, Wilber, Jr., Timothy O'Neil, Caroline Elizabeth, and Bertina Linette.

Lucy was a homemaker and raised many of her preschool-aged nieces, nephews, and family friends. She loved the outdoors and spending time in the yard. She enjoyed growing flowers and observing nature, especially watching birds. Lucy also enjoyed cooking-preparing holiday meals brought her great joy. Assembling puzzles, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune and listening to the radio, especially to gospel music, were some of her favorite pastimes.

Mom treasured her family and was a wonderful mother. She absolutely adored being "Nana" to her grandchildren. Mom was the epitome of love, kindness, grace, humility and selflessness. Most of all, mom was a faithful child of God.

Lucy was predeceased by her husband of 47 years and daughter Janice.

Lucy leaves to cherish her precious memories and to continue her legacy, her devoted sons, Wilber, Jr. (Cheryl) and Timothy Sr. (Anita); her devoted daughters Caroline and Bertina; eight grandchildren Steven, Dana, DeLaci, Alana, Wilber III (Trey)(Hannah), Noah, Julian, and Timothy, Jr.; two great grandchildren Kameron and Kaleb; two sisters Sadie D. Yancey and Edna M. Dabney; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and devoted neighbors Patsy Dymacek and Mike Lester.
