Derek Wendell
Garrison
November 2, 1967 – September 3, 2023
Derek Wendell Garrison departed Sunday, September 3, 2023, peacefully at his Henrico home. He was preceded in death by his father Raymond Garrison, brother Darnell Garrison, and many other relatives that have gone on to be with the Lord.
Derek or Tuddy as he was so lovingly known was born November 2, 1967, to Raymone and Annie Garrison in King William, Virginia. He attended school and graduated in Caroline County, Virginia. He continued his career as a custodian with Henrico County Public Schools and worked at several different schools throughout the county from elementary to high school.
Tudy enjoyed playing music as a DJ, watching movies, fashion, dominoes, occasional sports trash talking, fishing, cornhole and cooking. More thing he enjoyed the time he spent with the people he loved and was loyal to a fault. He was such a giver and never looked for it to be reciprocated. His caring heart and his eagerness to help others even showed in him washing other cars and maintaining their lawn. One thing for sure he always looked forward to a good time and made the best of his life.
Derek is survived by his mother, Annie Garrison of Ruther Glen, VA; four sisters Sharon (Orlando) Washington, Jenora Garrison, Juanita (Keith) Harris and Bridgett Morrow; one brother Spencer (Carmen) Garrison; sister-in-law Daneca Garrison; a host of loving nieces, nephews and cousins; along with several devoted friends who were more like family.
A Silent Tear
Just close your eyes and you will see
All the memories that you have with me
Just sit and relax and you will find
I'm really still there inside your mind
Don't cry for me now I'm gone
For I am in the land of song
There is no pain, there is no fear
So dry away that silent tear
Don't think of me in the dark and corld
For here I am, no longer old
I'm in the place filled with lofe
Known to you all as, "UP ABOVE"
