Obituary

Doris J. Jackson departed this life on November 7, 2025. She was born on August 22, 1926, to the late Jeannette Coles Jones Jackson and Frank Jones in Louisa County, VA. She attended Mt. Olivet Elementary School and later Louisa Training School.

Doris joined Mt. Olivet Baptist Church at the age of ten under the leadership of Rev. R. J. Robertson. Throughout her life, she was a dedicated and active member of the church. She attended Sunday School and served as a missionary, youth advisor, senior choir member, budget committee member, building committee member, and Deaconess, where she also served faithfully as President. Additionally, she was a member of the Robertson Memorial Gospel Chorus, which she and the late, Mrs. Mamie Clarke helped to organize.

On August 24, 1946, Doris married the late Deacon Linard Hampton Jackson. They were united in marriage for 42 years at his death. Doris loved flowers and had a special fondness for the color pink.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Elnora Jackson; her brothers, Willmar, James Nelson, and William Jackson; her goddaughter, Cynthia Pryor; and a devoted friend, Margaret Winston.

She leaves to cherish her memory her godchildren, DeWayne Jackson and Keisha Roberts; her sisters, Norma Terry and Katrina Hicks (Douglas); her brother, Norman Jackson (Bettie); a host of nieces and nephews; the Nelson family; and devoted friends, including Isadore Jackson and the Thomas family.
