Obituary

Dorothy Mallory Rollins entered into eternal rest early in the morning of June 1, 2025, in her home with family and hospice care. She was born February 3, 1935, to the late Julian and Rena Houchens.

Dorothy accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized under the pastoral leadership of the late Rev. E.E. Robinson. She was a lifelong member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she attended and supported until her health declined.

Dorothy married Sidney Mallory who preceded her in death. To this union nine children were born. She later married Eugene Rollins and to this union two sons were born, Eugene and son Johnny preceded her in death.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. Her compassion for others defined her life. She served as a matriarch for her family. She was also a caregiver for several people. Dorothy took great pride in her appearance. She was a fashionable dresser. Everything had to match from head to toe along with matching jewelry.

Dorothy was predeceased by the following (half siblings), Eva, Helen, Marie, Cain, Clayton, Henry and James. Also preceding her in death were two sons, Calvin and Johnny, one sister, Elnora Seward, and four brothers, John, Wiliam, Earl and Horace.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory: four devoted daughters, Juanita Woodson (Simon, devoted son-in-law), Margaret Miller, Beulah Wilkins and Alberta Mallory; five loving and dedicated sons, Sidney Mallory (Mary), Robert Mallory (Sandra), Roger Mallory, Carlton and Jerome Mallory; two sisters, Adell Hawkes and Nancy Jefferson (Alfonso); five brothers, devoted Claudie Houchens, devoted Harvie Houchens, Frank Houchens, Moses Houchens, and Warren Houchens; five sisters-in-law, Adell Houchens, Minister Cynthia Houchens, Mary Houchens, Mable Houchens and Barbara Houchens; Godchild, Nathaniel Smith; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and community friends.
