Earl Vast Houchens was born August 21, 1941 in Louisa County, Virginia to Rena and Julian Houchens, both deceased. Earl was educated at A. G. Richardson High School. He joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Louisa, Virginia at the age of 10 and was a faithful member until his health declined. Throughout the years he was employed as a mechanic. He was very skilled with his hands. He was a devoted lodge brother in Temple Lodge 113/Louisa. On October 29, 1960 Earl married Barbara Ann Coles. They had three children, Orlando Myron (Gina), Felecia Ann (Lynwood, Jr.), Donald Earl (Margarette), and one adopted daughter, Angela Thomas. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Crystal, Dominic, Telecia, Lynwood III, Chelsey, and Michael; eight great grandchildren; brothers, Butch, Frank, Harvie, Warren, and Claudie; sisters, Dorothy, Adell, and Nancy, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Earl was preceded in death by brothers, Mike, Henry, Clayton, Horace, James, John, and Kane, and sisters, Rose, Elnora, and Marie. He was a loving and devoted husband and father.
