Edith Valentine Kinton, born January 5, 1930 was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Edith Valentine and her husband, Leroy Kinton as well as her siblings, Harry, Joe, Earl, Simon, William Lee, Katherine, Clara and Mary. She leaves to mourn, her children, Marquetta Scott, Jesse Johnson, Jr. and Markeeta Waytes (Virgil) and a stepson Larry Kinton; a devoted cousin, Gloria Nash; 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, a host of cousins, 12 nieces and nephews. Edith graduated from Virginia Randolph High School in 1946. She attended beauty college, obtained her cosmetologist license and for many years operated her beauty salon in Ashland, Va. She participated in the foster care program for Henrico County and the City of Richmond. Edith was baptized at St. Peter Baptist Church in 1944 which makes her the last original member of St. Peter Baptist Church. While serving at St. Peter, Edith was a Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Musician, Sr. Citizen Musician, a member of the Sr. Choir, and the Royal Usher Board. Edith was a member of the Beauticians Association of Richmond and Vicinity and member of the Golden Angels of Henrico County. She was also on the Dabney Winston Family Reunion Planning Committee.
The funeral at St. Peter Baptist Church will be a drive-in service.
