Ellis H. Claiborne, Jr.

August 31, 1952 – January 12, 2024

Ellis Harris "Manny Boy" Claiborne, Jr. was born on August 31, 1952 to Ellis Harris and Roberta Beatrice (Winston) Claiborne.

Ellis Harris Claiborne, Jr. was baptized early in life at Union Baptist Church in Ashland, VA.  He loved the Lord and continued to put his faith in God.

Ellis attended John M. Gandy School and graduated from Patrick Henry High School in 1971.  He was  devoted worker and retired from the County of Fairfax Water and Sewer Department.

After a debilitating accident in 1972, the doctors he would never walk again.  While relying on his faith in God, not only did he recover but from that time until he took his last breath, he inspired others to persevere.  He mentored many of the young men in the neighborhood and listened to their stories of the time they shared with him.

Ellis loved spending time with family and friends. Everyone who knew him, knew he enjoyed playing cards, fishing, basketball, and you can't forget that he was a Giants fan.  He loved watching western movies and taking the family in long rides especially in conversion vans.

Ellis lived a full life of fun with family and friends.  On January 12, 2024, he took his last breath.

Ellis is preceded in death by mother, Roberta Claiborne; father, Ellis Claiborne; brother, George Claiborne and daughter, Sherre Burton.  He is survived by daughter, Rachelle Straus; sons, Corey Straus and Lamont Straus; sisters, France Claiborne, Joyce Streater, Derbria Morris; brothers, Clarence Claiborne (Sena) and Alvin Claiborne; granddaughters, Rashawn Straus and Jasmine Watkins; Grandsons, Elijah Hammett, Zachery Banks, Cortez Banks and Blake Straus; great-granddaughter, Lailah Straus; great-grandsons, Cody Straus and Chase Tinker; Nieces, nephews (great and great-greats), cousins devoted Melvin Claiborne and Wayne Holman and a host of other family and friends.
