Obituary

Ellis Raydell Jackson was surrounded by family and friends at his home on Shelton Hill Road, Bumpass, VA when he departed this life on Sunday, October 31, 2021.

Ellis was born on Thursday, December 12, 1946 to the late William F. and Helen M. Jackson of Louisa County Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Ludie Thompson; and brothers, Robert and Eugene Jackson. Ellis became a member of Mt Olivet Baptist Church at an early age. He attended public schools in Louisa County.

On June 23, 1988, Ellis married the former Lucie May Jones and became step-father to eight children: Nell Fountain (deceased), James Jones (deceased), Charles Jones, Samuel Jones, Gladys Jones, Rufus Jones, Lucille Jones, and Antonio Johnson, who was primarily raised by Lucie.

Ellis started driving when he was young.  This moved him towards a career as a tractor trailer truck driver for many years. He was employed by Dymacek Trucking, Inc. and Fred Dehner Lumber respectively until his health declined. Ellis was known as "The Butcher" to his CB radio friends.

Ellis loved being around family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and riding his motorcycle.
Those who will cherish fond memories of him include his devoted wife, Lucie; step-children, Samuel (Patricia), Richmond, VA; Charles (Teresa), North Carolina; Rufus, Gladys, Lucille, and Antonio, Bumpass, VA; devoted brother-in-law, Howard (Geneva) Shelton, Bumpass, VA; devoted brother, William (Mary) Jackson, Mineral, VA; devoted sister, Priscilla Trice, Richmond, VA; devoted niece, Shirley Scott-Brice, Mineral, VA; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Let Me Go

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little, but not for long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love that once we shared
Miss me, but let me go.

For this is a journey we all must take
And each must go alone.
It's all part of the master plan
A step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick at heart
Go to the friends we know.
Laugh at all the things we used to do
Miss me, but let me go.
