Eloise D.
Lewis
December 28, 1945 – July 24, 2025
On Thursday, July 24, 2025, our hearts were deeply interrupted when our beloved Eloise Delores Lewis, 79, entered eternal rest at Regional Memorial Hospital and went home to be with our Lord and Savior.
Eloise entered this life on December 28, 1945. She was the daughter of the late Allen Jones Sr. and Savannah Jones of Ashland, Virginia. She accepted Christ at an early age at Brown Grove Baptist Church in Ashland, Virginia. There, she was a faithful and longstanding member and was also a member of the Sanctuary Choir. She enjoyed singing in the choir and her church family, but most of all, she loved the Lord.
Eloise received her education from Hanover County Public Schools. Her career in the hospitality industry extended over decades, marked by dedication and excellence. She retired from Howard Johnson as the Supervisor of the Housekeeping Department due to health reasons. Whether enjoying the company of loved ones, listening to music, singing, or dancing, she embraced life with joy and spirit.
Her greatest pride and joy came from being a devoted mother and grandmother. She cherished those roles and embraced them with unconditional love. She was always there with an open heart and a listening ear. And someone you could always talk to and confide in.
We will miss her dearly, her laughter, her love, and the light she brought into our lives. She will forever be remembered as our "Dancing Queen". Lighting up every room with her joy, rhythm, and infectious spirit.
Eloise was preceded in death by the son she held so dear, Christopher Lewis and her beautiful sister, Martha Ann Harris. Left to treasure her memory is her dedicated daughter, Pamela Shelton (Kenneth Michael Shelton Sr.); her devoted grandson, Joshua Lewis; her beautiful sister, Gladys Coleman; and two caring and supportive brothers, Allen Jones Jr. and Kenneth Roger Jones; two devoted nieces, Deborah Coleman and Danielle Harris-Grimes; special friends whose love and loyalty never wavered, Leroy Brown, Blanche Champion, Mary Harris, Elsie Morris, Artrianna Morris, and Juanita Cash; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
