Carter
August 22, 1946 – May 27, 2020
Emma Jane Carter went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May, 27, 2020. She was born on August 22, 1946 to the late John Ellis Tinsley and Corine (Shelton) Tinsley.
At an early age, she accepted Christ and was baptized at Providence Baptist Church. She served her church family as a Trustee, Sunday school teacher, member of the Gospel Choir, and longtime member of the Finance and Hospitality committees.
She was educated in Hanover County Public Schools and retired from Reynold's Metal Company as a Data Entry Operator.
Emma absolutely adored her family and was a great source of support for all who needed a kind word and listening ear. Her home and her heart were open to anyone who needed some love, a hug, advice or some discipline. Emma had a rule, "if you spend the night on Saturday, you will be going to church with us on Sunday". She enjoyed and cherished her grandchildren. Often times, dancing with them, creating picnics on the floor and allowing them to eat whatever they wanted. She had a loving way of connecting with her husband, children, siblings, nieces and friends.
Emma was preceded in death by her parents and six much-loved siblings.
