Obituary

Estelle Burch slipped peacefully into eternal rest on Wednesday January 6, 2021. Estelle was born on February 2, 1927 in King and Queen County, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents Edward Thomas Holmes Sr. and Effie Corbin Holmes, her siblings Mary Virginia Holmes, Hannah Holmes Hoskins and Edward Thomas Holmes Jr. and her loving husband of 26 years, Repert Burch. Estelle was educated in King and Queen County Virginia where she attended Bethlehem Elementary School and King and Queen High School. Estelle received her early Christian education as a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, King and Queen County.

Estelle joined Antioch Baptist Church in Camden, New Jersey in 1953 when Reverend M.L. Henry was Pastor followed by Reverend Rufus McClendon and her current Pastor Reverend John O. Parker. She was known by her church family as a hard worker and dedicated servant. During her more than 60 years at Antioch she served as the Chairwoman of the Food and Clothing Ministry, Vice Chair of the Trustee Board, President of the Flower Club and Supervisor of the Maintenance and Church Grounds committee. She was also a member of the Hospitality, Pulpit, Helping Hands, Building, Pastor's Aide, and Senior Citizens Committees. Estelle possessed a charitable spirit which made the Food and Clothing Ministry a perfect way for her to serve the Lord.  She enjoyed fellowship with her fellow church members and was part of a local bowling team.

Estelle always carried herself with dignity and took great pride in her appearance. She was an amazing storyteller. Family and friends enjoyed hearing her stories of her early life in Camden with Repert.

Estelle leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews, Step Grandchildren and Step Great Grandchildren. She also leaves a host of other loving and caring family and friends.

Estelle, as we saw you sinking,

and watched you fade away

Our hearts are truly breaking

As we wanted you to stay

But when we saw you sleeping,

So peaceful and free of pain,

How could we wish you back with us,

to suffer that again.

God knew the way was weary

and the hills were hard to climb

So he whispered sweetly in your ear "Peace Be Thine"

Sorrowfully Submitted,

The Family
