Evelyn Jennie
Blackburn Moore
April 6, 1941 – February 12, 2025
Evelyn Jennie Blackburn Moore, 83, was born in our nation's capital, Washington, D.C., on April 6, 1941, to the late James and Rosie Blackburn, Sr. After experiencing some illness, God gently whispered her name, and she peacefully transitioned, from labor to reward, and returned to our Lord and Savior on February 12, 2025.
Evelyn received her education from the District of Columbia school system. After graduating from high school, she married Boyd Moore, Jr. As a result of their union and his military service, Evelyn was afforded the opportunity to live abroad in Crete Greece, Misawa Japan, and in Germany where she gave birth to one of her children. During that time, Evelyn was a domestic engineer who raised her five children in a loving, spiritual, and respectful home. When residing stateside, after her children were school age, she worked in retail and retired from Hecht's department store.
Evelyn was a deeply spiritual person. She was not one who talked about her relationship with God, but she lived it. She was a member of several churches. To name a few she fellowshipped with St. Mark United Methodist Church (UMC) in Hanover, MD and St. John African Methodist Episcopal Church in Odenton, MD. She even considered John Wesly UMC, in Glen Burnie, as her church even though she never formally joined.
She enjoyed reading, puzzles, dancing, crafts, day trips, slot machines, family, and her circle of friends. She was simply who she was, Evelyn, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, friend, and most of all, a child of God.
In addition to her parents, James and Rosie, she was also preceded in death by her son, Boyd A. Moore; and grandson, Mark E. Moore Jr., whom she will be laid to rest with.
Evelyn leaves to mourn her daughter, Donna Y. Moore; sons, Reverend Dr. Kenneth P. Moore, Mark E. Moore Sr., and Christopher C. Moore Sr.; daughter-in-law, Tonica Bouyer-Moore; former spouse and friend, the Reverend Dr. Boyd Moore Jr.; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Final rites will be completed by William Reese & Sons Mortuary, P.A. in Annapolis, Md.
