Obituary

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course. I have kept the faith": (2nd Timothy 4:7) Fannie M. Hunter went to be with the Lord on Thursday December 4, 2014 peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family. Fannie was born June 17, 1923 to the late Phillip L. Morris and Jennie J. Morris. She received her education in the Caroline County Public School System. Fannie was united in holy matrimony with the late Phillip L. Hunter. From this union six siblings were born, four preceded her in death. At an early age Fannie dedicated her life to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a faithful member of Second Mt. Zion Baptist Church until health began to fail her. She loved her Pastor and church family. Fannie was a dedicated member of the Missionary and Rock of Ages. She always visited the sick and was willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed. Fannie was employed by Westminister Canterbury Richmond for 16 years until her retirement. She was a dedicated, loving and hard working mother who loved all of her children and grandchildren very much. Fannie was preceded in death by her loving husband Phillip L. Hunter, three sons, Stewart L., Matthew and Tyrone Hunter and one daughter Fannie M. Coles. She leaves to cherish her memory a loving daughter Arlean (Allen) Jones and a loving son Dwight Hunter; one foster son Donovan Morris; three grandchildren, one a devoted granddaughter Loretta (Marcellus) Smith, grandsons Roderick (Penny) Gains and Stewart Washington; one step grandson Richard W. (Jenese) Stokes; five great-grandchildren, Roderick Gaines, Jr., Jordan Gaines among them two devoted Breonda and Marcellus Smith II. A number of step great-grandchildren; three sisters Tamer Williams, Corine Morris, and Ruby Campbell; three sisters-in-law Quetta Jackson, Lucille Hunter, and Virginia Morris; one brother-in-law Walter Campbell; two daughters-in-law Blondie J. and Cecelia Hunter. A Host of nieces, one devoted Babara Lee, nephews, and friends; two devoted and caring caregivers, Alicia Bailey and Nikki Holman. Special thanks to the Fannie M. Hunter's nieces Aretha Fields, Sabrina Stevens, Vanetta Stevens, Jennifer Morris and Charlene Morris for all their help during our mother's and grandmother's sickness. God Garden God looked around his garden, and found an empty place. He then looked down upon the earth, and, and saw your tired face. He put his arms around you, and lifted you to rest. God Garden must be beautiful-he always takes the best. He knew you would never get well, here on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough, and hills were hard to climb. So he closed your weary eyelids and whispered peace be thine. It broke our heart to lose you, the day God called you home.
