Frances Darlene
Mines "Shorty"
August 26, 1958 – June 8, 2023
Frances Mines, affectionally known as "Shorty" went to her Heavenly home on June 8, 2023. She was born on August 26, 1958, to the late John Mines and Mary Mines in Beaverdam, Virginia. A devoted believer in the Lord and a loving mother of three, Frances loved life. She lived a life filled with faith, compassion, and unwavering love for those dear to her.
Frances was educated in the Hanover Public Schools and at an early age joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church. Her relationship with the Lord was the cornerstone of her life. Though she may not have attended church as frequently as some, her devotion and belief in God were evident in her actions and interactions. As a caregiver for the elderly, she exemplified the virtues of compassion, patience, and kindness that she held dear to her heart. Frances selflessly dedicated her time and energy to provide comfort and support to those in need, truly embodying the teachings of her faith.
Apart from her unwavering devotion to the Lord and her service as a caregiver, Frances worked numerous other jobs and her passion and dedication were seen in every job she did. She also had her own unique joys in life. Shorty had a special fondness for playing Bingo, which brought her excitement and laughter. Whether it was a weekday or the weekend she could always be found at the Bingo Hall, eagerly marking her numbers with a big smile on her face. And who could forget her love for Pepsi? Ice cold Pepsi in a can to be exact. It was her go-to beverage.
Frances had an undeniable ability to express her emotions through her facial expressions. Whether you were a stranger, a friend, or a family member, her face could convey her feelings in an instant. She was unapologetically honest about her emotions and never hesitated to let others
know where she stood. Despite this straight forwardness, those who truly knew her understood that beneath her expressive demeanor was a heart filled with love, warmth, and a genuine concern for others.
Frances had a remarkable sense of style that set her apart from the rest. She had an innate ability
to express her unique personality through her fashion choices, and her love for pearls was a true reflection of her elegance and grace. With her impeccable taste, Frances brought a touch of
sophistication to every occasion, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of crossing her path.
Frances Mines leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and unfiltered authenticity.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by three siblings, John, Sharlene & Mary. Her memory will forever be cherished by her three beloved children, who were the light of her life, Demetria, Destry, Desirae; her mother Mary; sister Cathy Mines; 5 aunts; 2 uncles; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; other family members and friends; Devoted Justin "Elroy" Taylor.
As we gather to remember and celebrate the life of Frances, let us take solace in the knowledge that she has found eternal peace in the loving embrace of the Lord whom she adored. May her soul rest in peace and may her spirit of compassion and unwavering faith continue to inspire us
all.
Per Frances' request, there will be no viewing and the funeral service will be private.
