REFLECTIONS OF LIFE

No soldier in active service entangles himself with the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him.

2 Timothy 2:4

Frank Henry Cole, a distinguished World War II veteran and devoted family man, transitioned peacefully at his home on March 20, 2025, at the age of ninety-eight. He was a man of unwavering integrity, a dedicated husband, and a cherished friend to many.

Frank honorably served his country in the United States Navy during World War II, stationed at Pearl Harbor. His military service instilled in him a deep sense of duty, patriotism, and appreciation for freedom.

Beyond his service, Frank had a lifelong passion for the outdoors, particularly hunting. He spent countless hours in nature, sharing his love of the sport with family and friends. Despite his age, Frank stayed connected to the hunting community, often checking in on his friend's and family's recent outings. He would ask, "How did the boys do today," referring to how many rabbits or deer his hunting partners killed. His expertise in hunting was widely recognized and respected. Consequently, Frank was the recipient of a lifetime membership for the Green Hill Hunt Club.

Frank was known for his remarkable health and vitality. Well into his late nineties, he remained independent—driving, cooking, and living on his own. His disciplined lifestyle contributed to his longevity, he maintained excellent health, requiring minimal medical intervention until his final days.

Frank was united in marriage with Ethel Johnson Cole, the love of his life, for over 70 years. Together, they shared a deep bond and built a life centered around love, faith, and family. They attended and supported Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Beaverdam for many years. Frank and Ethel were blessed with two children, Rosetta and Earl Franklin, both of whom preceded him in death. Frank was also preceded in death by his parents, Frank Wesley and Isabel Mae Cole; four brothers; one sister; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.

He leaves to cherish his memory his niece, Vanessa Cole, (devoted); nephews, George Minor, Robert Cole, Jr. and Jamal Moore (devoted), devoted cousin James S. Dyson, Esq.; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Boone, Nancy Bray, and Linda Moore(Carroll Moore); devoted caretakers, Gary & Letisha Boone, Earl & Gail Bolden and Thomasine Baylor; Special friends Kim & Cindy Robertson, Bobby & Peggy Satterwhite as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Frank Henry Cole will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of strength, honor, and devotion to family and friends will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
