Obituary

Freddie Haywood Washington was called to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, May 7, 2024. He was the youngest of seven siblings born on March 19, 1935, to the late Alexander and Maude Washington in King William County, Mangohick, VA. He was educated at the Mangohick Country Schoolhouse under the teaching of Mrs. Evelyn Winslow. He accepted Christ at an early age, was baptized and joined the Mangohick Baptist Church and continued to support until his passing.

During his life he was a dedicated, hard worker, being employed with Hertz for many years and then moving on to Lowe's and retired after 27 years of service. After retirement he restored an old broken down 1969 Chevrolet pickup truck and named it "69 Nasty Boy". Then he went to work for the late Caleb Baldwin for over 20 years until his health began to decline. While working for the Baldwins, Carter and Virginia, he was adopted Grandfather, to Savannah, Charlotte, Carter Gage and Augusta Baldwin. They loved him, and he loved them just as much.

While he was battling his illnesses, he wanted only one person to take care of him, his loving wife of 63 years Lorraine. She was by his side 24/7 on the roads driving him to doctor appointments, hospital visits, hardware store, anywhere he wanted to go looking like she was driving "Miss Daisy". He was always jolly and sure to make some comical comment to make you laugh and show his big smile. He will truly be missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandson Michael Haywood Washington, stepson Mervin L. Waller, Jr., two brothers Alfred and Daniel Washington, sisters Mae Anna Weston, Elvarine McDonald and Arlene Childs.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his devoted wife Alice Lorraine Washington, devoted son Michael Wayne Washington, stepdaughter Carolyn Green, ten grandchildren devoted Rockel Waller, Selena Washington Rivera and Jaime Mukuriah, ten great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, sister Ruth Beverly, four nieces devoted Christine Edwards, six nephews, four sisters-in-laws, one brother-in-law, one daughter-in-law, a number great nieces and nephews, a host of cousins and other relatives and friends devoted Monroe Jackson and Fred Dyer, special Jim Hauser, Jimmy Gresham, The Baldwins and Pitts.
