Gatilee
Jackson
May 2, 1931 – April 28, 2016
Gatilee Jackson 84, left this life on April 28th, 2016 with her family by her side in Hanover County Virginia.
Gatilee was born on May 2nd, 1931 in Hanover County, Virginia to Mattie Braxton and Walter Nelson and was one of 8 children.
Gatilee accepted Christ at an early age and joined Old Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Studley, Virginia. While at Chestnut, Gatilee was a Deaconess and served her church faithfully through many boards and was always a fixture on Sundays, especially in the kitchen for special events. Later in life Gatilee joined Springfield Baptist Church in Mechanicsville, Virginia where she also served her church as long as she could before she became ill. Gatilee may not have been at every Sunday Service at Springfield but she was always there in spirit.
She retired from MCV Hospital in 1993 and spent the remainder of her time enjoying life. She had a strong passion for entertaining at her home and putting smiles on friends and family's faces by blessing them with her cooking. You could always find her in the kitchen baking bread or cakes in here free time. Gatilee loved going on bus trips, shopping and socializing with her friends and family. She was a woman who never asked for anything and if she wanted it she would tell you "I will buy it myself". She was kind, caring and loved by those who were lucky enough to come in contact with her. We will miss her Sunday dinners and her spunky behavior, but we are happy to have our memories.
She was preceded in death by three sons, one brother, five sisters and two grandchildren.
Gatilee leaves to cherish her beautiful memories, a loving husband, Monroe Jackson and three children Alease Harris (Howard), Teressa Moran (Allen), Joseph Jackson Jr. She is survived by one sister Idea Johnson, eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephew s.Henry W.
