Geneva Latney Johnson was called from labor to reward on Friday, July 29, 2016.  She was the oldest of five children born to Harry Latney and Elizabeth Young Latney.

She attended Hanover County Training School and Armstrong High School.

She joined the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in 1935 at the age of nine, under the pastorate of Reverend Louis H. Dickerson.  She served faithfully as a member of the Senior Usher's ministry, the Senior Choir and the Missionary ministry until the health of her ailing husband curtailed her activities.

She was a domestic worker for many years before she retired.

She married Albert Nelson Johnson on September 30, 1950.  They enjoyed 62 blissful years together and from their union one daughter was born, Joyce Johnson Nicholas.

Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Johnson and daughter, Joyce. Nicholas. She leaves to cherish her loving memory, two grandchildren, Tracey Nicholas (Langston) and Tifonya "Fawn" Nicholas Dendy (Alonzo); four great granddaughters, Llorel Eldridge, Grace, Joy and Noelle Dendy; two sisters, Eloise Johnson and Audrey Burroughs; one brother, Harry Latney; one sister-in-law, Paige Anderson; nephews, Walker Johnson  (Lorena), Oliver Gaines, Jr. (Barbara) and David Johnson; nieces, Jewell Flagg, Beverly Gaines, Marguerite Russell (Gregory), Wanda Green, and Michelle Burroughs a host of other relatives and friends, one devoted Josephine Harris.
