Geneva Mae
Peatross
November 24, 1929 – June 25, 2019
Geneva Mae Peatross was born November 24, 1929, one of six children to the late Blanche and Burton Samuels. She was a homemaker for many years and later retired from Tyson Foods in 1992. Geneva married Arthur Peatross in 1950 and their union was blessed with five daughters and three sons. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur and one son, Marvin Peatross.
Geneva was the matriarch of the family. She was a loving mom, grandmother, aunt, and friend to all she graced with her infectious smile and personality. She was a great conversationalist, and made friends wherever she went. Geneva joined the Shiloh Baptist Church in Bowling Green, Virginia at an early age, and remained a faithful member until her health declined. She loved reading the Bible and singing spiritual hymns. Her additional hobbies included gardening and sewing. She was a jack of all trades. Geneva was an awesome cook/baker and graciously shared with anyone. She could play a strong game of checkers, and boastfully laughed upon victory. To know Geneva was to love her. She was a woman of morals, compassion, integrity, and had a great sense of humor. She was soft spoken, and lived a humble life; her helping hands were offered to anyone in need.
Memories will be forever cherished by her five daughters, Brenda Woolfolk of Newark, Delaware, Consuela Alexander (Byron) of Rutherford Glen, Virginia, Sheila Jones of Chester, Virginia, Janice Peatross of Ashland, Virginia and Lisa Peatross of Richmond, Virginia; two sons, Nathan Peatross (Mayon) of Richmond, Virginia and Ricky Peatross of Ashland, Virginia; one sister, Dorothy Jackson of Silver Spring, Maryland; sister-in-law, Kate Samuels of Bowling Green, Virginia; 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, two devoted granddaughters, Monica Amin and Katrina Peatross, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
