George H. Winston, 86, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2022, was born on July 27, 1936, to the late Benjamin Jackson and Anna Winston in Hanover County .

At an early age he joined the Providence Baptist Church where he gave his life to the Lord and was baptized. He sang in the men's choir and served on the deacons board. His favorite song that he loved to sing was, "I want to Be at the Meeting". His hobbies were fishing and hunting. He was a member of the WB Hunt Club for over 48 years, even after he became sick, he was determined he was going to go hunting just to sit on the back of the truck to watch them hunt.

George was educated in the Hanover County School System. His first job was at the age of 14 was working at Randolph Macon College. In 1956 after leaving the college George joined the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1957. He then began his career for the United States Postal Service where he worked for 25 years until his retirement. George then took on a part time job with Hanover County driving the county vehicles until his health declined.

George was predeceased by his parents and one son Herbert Braxton.

George leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 67 years Carrie B. Winston; two devoted grandchildren Cheryl Braxton and Chris Braxton; daughter-in-law Catherine Braxton; one devoted niece Gwendolyn Wilson; devoted friend Leon Harris; a special young man in his life Antonee Morton; numerous loving and caring nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
