Obituary

Gloria Harris was born on October 3, 1957, in Richmond, VA.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Shante, mother, Margaret Harris,  brothers, Jessie Morris and Clarence Harris and sister, Kate Morris. On November 23, 2021, she entered into eternal rest at the VCU Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia surrounded by family.

She joined Second Mt. Zion Baptist Church at a young age and served as an Usher before her health failed.  She attended Dawn School and Union High School.  Gloria loved reading, listening to gospel music, seek and find puzzles and shopping.  She was known for wearing beautiful hats and suits.  She also loved to cook her favorite meal:  pig feet, potato salad, and navy beans.  Gloria had a heart of gold.  Her doors were always open to anyone that wanted a meal or somewhere to stay.

She leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, Adero & Adetric Harris; three grandsons, Adero Ellison, John Dean and Adyn Walker; two brothers, Eli Morris (Amy) and Earnest Harris (Mabel); three sisters, one devoted, Doris Mines, who Gloria affectionately called "Pie", Barbara Goodall (Albert) and Brenda Harris; a devoted nephew, Marvin Morris; a devoted niece, Shiretta Morris, and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.

Her big smile and cheerful laughter will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be

So he put his arms around you and whispered "Come to Me"

With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you pass away

And although we love you dearly, we could not make you stay

A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest

God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best
