Obituary

Gwendolyn affectionately known as ''Gwenny", was born December 4,1957 at St. Phillips Hospital, Richmond, Va. She was the elder daughter of Dorothy Mills and Milton Pleasants, Gwen departed this life on Wednesday June 12, 2025 at Memorial Regional Hospital surrounded by family. Gwen was preceded in death by her loving grandparents, Charlie and Ophelia Mills, Aunt Bessie Mines (Odell). Uncles, Charles (Evelyn), Raymond Mills, Sr., Brother, Bruce Anderson.

Gwen accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Jerusalem Baptist Church at a young age, She was a Baptized Believer all of her life. While in her youth, Gwen would attend Sunday School regularly and was well versed on bible scripture. Pre Sunday school class each person would stand and give a bible verse, Gwen's quote would often be from the 23rd Psalm. Little did she know at the time, how that memory verse she choose would help to sustain her through turbulence times...." Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff that comfort me...Gwen lived her life fearlessly, sometimes snagged by Satan evil snares. Thanks be to God, she was the victor because God delivered her back to Himself.

Gwen attended Hanover public schools, pre and post integration, she was known by peers for her beautiful personality and her stylish way of dressing, which earned her the name 'Hollywood'. Gwen was beautiful. Gwen enjoyed watching westerns, scary movies, and star trek. Gwen would watch the popular show " Soul Train" and gain ideas for her sewing projects like Halter Tops, miniskirts, and the most "coolest" ways one can cut- up a pair of blue-jean pants. Gwenny loved going to church, and listening to Gospel music, one of her all-time favorites was "Coolin Water" by Lee Williams, She loved family reunions, good cooking, a clean house, being among friends, dancing (never shying away from dance competition, even while using her walker), and loved baseball, chances are if you were smart enough to have chosen Gwen to play on your team, your team most likely won because when she stepped forward to bat the ball, the out fielders stepped back - in hopes to stop the inevitable home run.

Gwendolyn was not too keen on big spaces. Before the popularity of the "small house'' craze, she was very content at the "Apple Garden" Those who know, knows! She was a loving and caring being. A loyal friend, a wonderful daughter, a sweet niece, a great sister, friend, cousin, aunt and meaningful presence on the earth!

Gwen leave to cherish her memory; A loving mother Dorothy Mills Fountain, her father Milton Pleasants, four sisters; Regina Edwards, Wanda Famer (Bill), Greta Gamble (Bobby), Angela Morris, Kendra Pleasants. Three Brothers; Sherwood Milton Fountain, Gilbert Anderson (Pam), Christoptnr Anderson.
