Deacon Harold Hicks Sr., age 93 of Beaverdam, VA departed this life on November 6, 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 64 years, Ruth Gaines Hicks and son, Harold Hicks, Jr. He is survived by three daughters, Jean H. Smith (Rev. Dr. Monroe), Judith Smith (Eldridge), of Beaverdam, VA, Juanita Adams-Moore, of Richmond, VA; two sons, Dr. Preston Hicks (Lisa) of Battle Creek, MI and Roger Hicks (Myra) of Louisville, KY; 16-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Edith Serman (George), A. Laura Gaines, Laura H. Gaines, Susie Hicks and a host of other relatives and friends. His remains rests at the Henry W. Dabney Funeral Home 518 N. Washington Hwy. Ashland, VA 23005. Funeral service will be held 12 noon Saturday November 9, 2013 at St. James Baptist Church Beaverdam, VA. Interment church cemetery
