"Spoon" Cousins
December 29, 1938 – September 27, 2025
Harry M. (Spoon) Cousins entered into eternal rest Saturday, September 27, 2025. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Deitra Delores "Deedee" Woodson Johnson and Lisa Arlene Woodson; six brothers, Grayson, Henry, Walter Cousins, Tom Sheppard, Jr., and Phil Thomas; nine sisters, Hallie Jackson, Lelia Harris, Marie Woodson, Elise Brown, Phyllis Cousins, Gladys Thomas, Bernice Cosby, Myrtle Wallace and Aileen E. Spain Carter; great-granddaughter, Jabria Brown.
Harry was born Thursday, December 29, 1938, to the late Elizabeth Cousins. He was educated in the Henrico County Public School system. He was employed by the City of Richmond until his retirement in 1991.
At the age of 86 he made the most important decision of his life by accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Harry was a loving and caring father, grandfather, great- grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother, uncle, brother-in-law and friend. He was a die-die-hard fan of the Washington Redskins/Commanders. He was known for his red truck that displayed his Washington Redskins/Commanders signs, flags, stickers, etc. including his stuffed bear. When you met him, it was no question as to who his favorite NFL team was. He was a walking and driving Redksins/Commanders' billboard.
Harry was a very caring soul. Whenever someone needed a helping hand, he would always be there for them. He endured great pain, but he never complained through it all. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and came in contact with him.
Harry leaves to cherish his memories, a devoted son, Harry Jerome Henderson, Sr., a devoted daughter, Wendy Brown of Burlington, NC; seven grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; two brothers, Benjamin (Daisy), Clifton Thomas (Annessah); three sisters, Frances Waddy (David), Matilda Brown of King William, VA, and Vivian Robinson (Charles) along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
