Ms. Hattie Waites Pleasants, 82, of Doswell, Virginia transitioned to her eternal reward on Wednesday, April 2, 2014. Ms. Pleasants was a pillar of her church and community. She served as District President of the Mattaponi Association for many years. She was an active member of the General Baptist Convention Area-K, the NAACP, the Hanover Ladies Club, the Red Hat Ladies, and other women's organizations. Ms. Pleasants was a Certified Nursing Assistant and in-home care giver. She served in the Hanover County Public Schools system as a school monitor during her retirement. She was a dedicated member of the Mount Carmel Baptist Church Doswell, Virginia. Ms. Pleasants was preceded in death by her parents Lellon Waites and Pearl Anderson, son Marshall Pleasants, daughter-in-law Linda Pleasants and sisters Naomi Pleasants (James) and Ophelia Robinson (Harry). She is lovingly remembered by her children Shirley Quash (Thomas), Theresa Ancarrow (William), Brenda Parker (Leonard), Bobby Pleasants, Eunice Kendell (Steve), Donald Pleasants (Vera), Walter Pleasants Jr. (Joyce), and Bridgett Robertson (Brian); daughter-in-law Lenora Pleasants; 22 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; one sister Veronia Eberhardt (Henry); one brother James Anderson (Helen) and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 11, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Jerusalem Baptist Church Doswell, Virginia. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 11:00 am at Jerusalem Baptist Church. Reverend William C. Archer officiating. Interment will follow the services at the Mount Carmel Baptist Church Doswell, Virginia.
