Helen D. Smithers of Ruther Glen, VA departed this life on Monday, October 23, 2017 at her residence.  She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband Manley "Cut" Smithers, two daughters, Sandra (Robert) Mallory and Lori Smithers, three sisters, Eunice Jackson, Doris Spurlock and Peggy Armstead, three brothers, Earl, James and Robert Carter, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one aunt, Virginia Gregory, one uncle, Deacon Curtis Harris, Sr., three sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.   Remains ret at the Henry W. Dabney Funeral Home, 518 N. Washington Hwy, Ashland, VA where viewing bill be held, Thursday, October 26, from 10:00 AM until 7:00 PM.  Funeral services will be held Friday, October 27, 11:00 AM at the First Mt Calvary Baptist Church, 18014 Dawn Blvd, Hanover Co., VA.
