On Saturday, August 26, 2023, Herman McKinley Stevens transitioned home to be with the Lord. He was surrounded by a devoted sister Addie Terrell and family. Herman was born in Caroline County, Virginia on July 2, 1938, to the late Herman Matthew Stevens and Florence Elizabeth Baylor-Stevens.
Herman attended Caroline Public School. Herman accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at 2nd Mt. Aion Baptist Church. He was employed by Bowie's Motel, King's Dominion and Crutchfield Building Management.
Preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, nieces, great nephew great niece cousins and brother-in-law Cecil Terrell.
Herman was affectionately known as Knotchy, Swamp, and 40 pounds. He loved being surrounded by his family and friends. He loved playing cards with his friends and cooking his pot of beans, fried chicken and fried pork chops. Herman was loved by everyone who knew him and those he met.
Herman leaves to cherish his memory 2 sons Brian Carter and Marcus Carter (LaTia); seven grandchildren Shaleah, Aleya, Anijah, Akirah, Jasmyne, Peyton, and Tristan; 2 nieces Sonia Gregory (Gordon) and Mavis Lewis; 2 nephews Walter Terrell (Jeanne) and Kirk Terrell; devoted friend Barbara Carter; devoted sister Addie Terell and cousin Gertrude Spurlock (Robert), devoted uncle Edmond Baylor; a host of other relatives and friends, among then Arthur Courtney, Conway Taylor, Larry Green, Aaron Anderson, Sr., and Calvin Smithers.
