On Tuesday, February 16, 2015, 9:00am, God decided to call his dearly beloved son, James Russell Witcher to be with Him. He was a patient at Westport Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. James was the oldest son of the late John Riley Witcher and the late Christeen Dennis Witcher of Pittsylvania County, Virginia. He also was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene A. Witcher(1/31/2003) and his sister, Ruby Brown Witcher(2/1/2003). He became affiliated with the New Behundley Baptist Church in Hurt, Virginia at an early age and throughout life an avid Bible reader. James attended Virginia Randolph Elementary and High Schools, graduating in 1959. Upon graduating he started work at Holzgrefe & Plagmen Poultry, Holly Farms and retired after forty-four years of service from Tyson Poultry Industries. He worked in sanitation and received awards for perfect attendance and his work. James was a very quiet person and loved gardening in his back yard. He enjoyed his great-nephew, Travin, when he visited and loved to play with the wheel barrow, dig in the dirt and make plans for a garden. He is survived by his devoted sister, Bernice Witcher Cousins Woodson, devoted brother-in-law, McKinley Lee Woodson; devoted nieces, Sharon W. Huff (Timothy), Zekeyah Witcher; nephew, Rashard Witcher; great nephew, Travin Huff; brother-in-laws, Henry Woodson(Harriett), Pastor Melvin Woodson((Liz), Henry Cox; sister-in-laws, Hope Witcher, Thelma Cox and Marie Woodson and other relatives and friends.
