Ida A.
Johnson
July 27, 1925 – February 11, 2025
And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily as to the Lord, and not unto men.
Colossians 3:23
Ida Ann Johnson, 99 years old, left this life on earth on Monday, February 11, 2025, at 7:10 a.m. at Autumn Care Health Center in Mechanicsville, VA, being a resident for more than ten (10) years.
Aunt Ida was born July 27, 1925, to Clinton Spurlock and Mary Rosa Hill in Mangohick, VA. She was educated in the King William County School System. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age.
After relocating to New York, she always remembered and came home every year for Homecoming. She demonstrated her love for God through her faith, spirit, compassion, being a caregiver for family and friends, calling everyone "sweetheart", and being a role model for everyone.
Aunt Ida was a quiet and soft-spoken woman with a humble spirit and a loving heart, so kind and sweet. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, a slice of "Ukrops" loaf pound cake and Skim milk! Riding with her nephew, Douglas, every time the car wheels turned! She was very health conscious.
Aunt Ida was blessed with a second husband, Ernest Johnson whom he called "Ann" that loved her with all his heart. Aunt Ida was loved by all, the last of seven (7) children to survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Ernest Johnson, devoted nieces; Lillian Cosby and Yvonne Fleming, nephew; Edward (Woody) Braxton whom she raised as her own.
She leaves cherished memories to her devoted nephew; Douglas Spurlock, niece; Dolores Brooks (George), adopted 2nd daughters; Thomasine Hines, Pandora Cosby (Leslie) Rosa Brooks (A. Douglas), Jennifer Freeman (Cedric), Malvena Burgess, Melinda Williams, Emmanuel Spurlock, and many other nieces, nephews, and friends.
Thank God for Aunt Ida. Ninety-nine (99) years of being faithful. She fought a good fight; she kept the faith and now she has received her eternal reward.
